— Geralyn Truckey is no longer a member of the Darien Village Board.

She was removed from office Thursday during an administrative hearing. Board members said Truckey was not fulfilling her duties as trustee.

She has not attended a board meeting or a committee meeting since taking office in April.

Village President Robert Metzner has appointed Allen Kenyon to take Truckey’s seat. Village Clerk Connie Machi will swear in Kenyon on or before the Monday, Nov. 19, board meeting.

Truckey has been in the limelight since she was re-elected to the board in April.

Shortly after the election, village Clerk Connie Machi became concerned Truckey no longer lived in the village. Wisconsin statutes require residents to live in the municipalities they serve.

The board sent a series of e-mails and certified letters to Truckey asking her to say where she lived. Citing personal safety issues, Truckey refused to tell village officials, two lawyers hired by the town or The Janesville Gazette where she was living.

The Wisconsin Attorney General’s Office declined to investigate the situation, as did the Walworth County district attorney’s office.
