The Rock County Sheriff's Department cracks down on domestic violence.

The department sent out three, three deputy teams during the annual Family Violence Apprehension Detail one day recently. Sergeant Brent DeRemer says the effort focussed on serving warrants on issues including domestic violence, sexual predator, and child non-support offenses.

DeRemer considers the single day effort a success. He says deputies attempted to serve 83 arrest warrants. They were successful with 16. DeRemer says many of these people know they have warrants, and need to take responsibility.

DeRemer considers the effort worthwhile because of the seriousness of domestic violence issues, as illustrated by the seven shooting deaths in Crandon recently.

This is the 5th year for the annual event, but the 1st year the Rock County Sheriff's Department participated.
