Peter Jensen

Age: 52.

Address: Rural Milton

Title: Maintenance technician and jack-of-all-trades. Runs the heating and air-conditioning system in the downtown 56,000-square-foot building; does plumbing, electrical, repairs, minor installations and some carpentry.

Pete also is training to work at the new building. “The technology out there is at least 40 years different. It’s not even the same lighting that we have (downtown). I think the new building is impressive and an exciting adventure.

“I’m learning about computers. Computers run almost everything (at the new plant).”

Is that intimidating? “There’s a lot of stuff to learn. But I am enjoying this. It bothered me a little bit, but I overcame that. It’s like, ‘I can conquer this.’ It can bury you if you let it.”

What do you like about working at the Gazette? The company offers great flexibility and stability. “I like the variety that I have … As a whole in my life, I’ve grown and succeeded in this company.”

If people understood one thing about the Gazette, what would you hope that would be? “That when you have a daily frequency of producing something, the community needs to accept and tolerate minor inconveniences.” That includes such things are misspelled words or a paper that’s a few minutes late.

Story: Pete is married. He has worked at the Gazette for almost 25 years. Does home repair and maintenance. He enjoys auto racing, baseball, traveling, dining out and spending time with family and friends.
