— A Janesville man suffered non-life threatening injuries Saturday afternoon after falling down an elevator shaft at the site of the Rock Aqua Jays’ “Fright Factory.”

Janesville Fire Department shift commander Craig Jones said they received a call from Bradley Springbrum, 41, Janesville, at 1:50 p.m. to 251 Hyatt St.

Springbrum, a member of the Aqua Jays, was delivering soda to the site using the freight elevator, Aqua Jays President Joel Shapiro said. When he opened the door on the first floor, it was dark and he didn’t notice the elevator wasn’t there, he said. Springbrum fell 15 feet to the basement, Jones said.

Springbrum was the only person in the building at the time and was able to call 911 from a cell phone. He was taken to Mercy Hospital where his condition was not available at press time. Shapiro said Springbrum suffered from a dislocated elbow and broken forearm.

The incident did not occur while the Fright Factory was in operation, and the elevator is not used as part of the Fright Factory, Shapiro said.
