— When she blew out the candles, a young girl’s birthday wish always was the same—to have Anthony C. Esposito stop sexually assaulting her.

The girl, now 14, shouldn’t have to make that wish anymore.

On Wednesday, Walworth County Judge James Carlson sentenced Esposito, 33, to 20 years in prison followed by eight more on extended supervision.

Esposito assaulted the girl more than 200 times since the girl was 3 years old, according to the criminal compliant. The assaults often occurred in Esposito’s former home in Genoa City and inside his vehicle.

Esposito, a judo expert, would tie the girl using his judo belt. He had her watch pornography and once videotaped an assault, according to the complaint.

Esposito of Harvard, Ill., pleaded guilty in July to repeated sexual assault of a child and a related charge. Several other charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Police had determined that the assaults occurred in Walworth County as early as February 2003 and as late as January 2007, according to the complaint.

The girl told police she was afraid of Esposito. He had threatened to hurt her if she told anyone about the sex acts, according to the complaint.
