Plea entered Odd Fellows break-in

— The man arrested in connection with the fire at the Odd Fellows Lodge on Nov. 3 pled not guilty to charges of burglary, theft and criminal damage to property Tuesday.

Jeremy A. Brown, 24, Homewood, Ala., was arrested after firefighters found him covered in soot in the burning building at 22 N. Main St., according to the criminal complaint.


He is not charged with arson.


The fire caused an estimated $100,000 damage.


Brown’s case will be scheduled for trial. If convicted, he faces up to 17 years in prison, but maximum sentences are rare.
