Edgerton boys notch second win

Edgerton High turned back pesky Cambridge, 51-40, in nonconference boys basketball Monday night.


The visiting Crimson Tide trailed 28-27 with two minutes remaining in the third quarter before spurting to a 33-27 lead by the end of the period.


Bryan Gregory scored eight of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter to ensure the unbeaten Tide’s second victory.


Edgerton’s Derek Carrier had a 14-point game. Cambridge’s Shane Leadholm and Tony Dedie scored 11 points apiece.

? n Oregon 43, Fort Atkinson 34—The Panthers made five of six free throws to seal the season-opening nonconference victory after Fort Atkinson was assessed a double technical foul in the fourth quarter.


Fort led 20-14 at the half, but the Blackhawks scored just two points in the third quarter and trailed 27-22 at the start of the final period.


The Blackhawks had cut their deficit to three points when the double technical was called. Oregon’s Matt Fritz made three of four free throws, and teammate Mike Amend went 2-for-2 to put the Panthers in control.


Fritz finished with 13 points, and Matt Masterson had 11 to pace Fort.
