— At least one spot will be open on the Milton School Board this spring.

President Sue Johnson announced Monday her decision not to seek re-election after nine years on the board.

Johnson made the “difficult decision” because of increasing demands at her family’s business, Johnson Tractor, she said in a news release. The company recently expanded to a second location in Illinois.

It’s an exciting time for the district as it plans for a new high school and searches for a new superintendent, Johnson said in the release.

But she’s confident she’s leaving the board in good hands.

“It has been my pleasure to be a part of the team that provided the foundation for this future planning,” she said.
