Lake Geneva outlasts Beloit in Shootout

— Lake Geneva Badger got its boys basketball season off to a hot start at the expense of Beloit Memorial in the Big Eight Shootout.

Badger High stormed to a 43-27 halftime lead and went on to an 82-72 nonconference victory Friday afternoon at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.


Badger’s Jimmy Merritt scored a game-high 28 points. Braden Tice added 21 points and Kevin Wieters had 20.


Beloit sophomores Sharod Stone, K.J. Evans and Jahlil Smith scored 18, 17 and 13 points, respectively.
