Beloit girls knock off Lake Geneva Badger

— A second-half run carried Beloit Memorial High School’s girls basketball team past Lake Geneva Badger in the Big Eight Shootout at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

Brianne Monahan scored 20 points, and the Purple Knights outscored the Badgers 32-15 in the second half en route to the 50-28 win Friday in a nonconference opener for both teams.


Alexia Tann added 12 points for Beloit, and Bryanna Bolton scored 10, including two three-point baskets.


Melissa Reuss scored nine points before fouling out to lead Badger.

Paige Alby and Stephanie Haight scored 16 and 13 points, respectively, to pace the Cardinals, who were up 54-27 after three quarters.
