— Wes Lagerhausen, a Badger High School senior standout, has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Wisconsin next fall and join the menís swim program.

Lagerhausen, who will receive a full athletic scholarship, is going into his fourth varsity season at Badger. He is a three-time Lakeshore Conference champion and has qualified for the WIAA Division 1 state meet the last three years.

As a junior, Lagerhausen won state championships in 100- and 200-yard freestyle, while setting a 200 freestyle state record with a 1:39.21 time. He was 14th in the 50 freestyle and 10th in the 100 freestyle as a freshman, then finished second in the 100 freestyle and third in the 200 individual medley as a sophomore.

Lagerhausen has qualified for the 2008 U.S. Olympic swim trials in Omaha, Neb., next summer.

He selected the UW over Texas, Notre Dame and Arizona.
