— A local businessman has decided to try again for a seat on the Janesville City Council.

Karl Dommershausen said he has taken out papers to run for council in the April 8 spring election.

Dommershausen, 64, of 2419 Plymouth Ave., unsuccessfully sought a council seat last April. A Janesville native, he operates a downtown appraisal business, 27 West Appraisers and Estate Services, with his wife, Renee.

Dommershausen said he plans to continue his listening sessions with voters, starting in December, and would talk with any group that wishes to meet with him.

During his last campaign, Dommershausen pushed for the city to release to the public its meeting agendas earlier than Friday. He also wanted the agenda packets placed online.

In June, the city began putting city council agendas online on the Friday before Monday meetings.
