— The Janesville School Board expelled three middle-school students Tuesday.

The students were accused of burglarizing a school, damaging school property and stealing school equipment.

The district does not reveal the age or gender of expelled students, but police reported that three 14-year-old boys were referred to juvenile authorities Oct. 9 on charges of burglary and theft in connection with a burglary over the previous weekend at Lincoln Elementary School, 1821 W. Conde St.

All three students were expelled through the end of the 2008-09 school year. They would be allowed to return starting with 2008 summer school, however, if they fulfill certain conditions: One would have to continue with counseling. One would have to attend the Truancy Abatement and Transitional Education program when space is available. A third would have to continue counseling and attend the TATE program.

If reinstated early, all three would be required to maintain satisfactory behavior, attendance and schoolwork and would be restricted to school grounds for lunch for an undetermined period.
