— UnitedHealthcare, a United Health Group company, and Mercy Health System reached a new, multi-year agreement.

UnitedHealthcare commercial health plan members will now have access to Mercy Hospital Janesville, Mercy Walworth Hospital and Mercy Health System clinics and medical centers in Wisconsin.

The new agreement, effective Jan. 1, 2008, expands UnitedHealthcare’s network of more than 12,000 physicians and nearly 120 hospitals throughout Wisconsin.

This follows an August agreement between UnitedHealthcare and Mercy Health System that provides UnitedHealthcare members access to Mercy Harvard Hospital/Mercy Health System clinics and medical centers in Illinois.

UnitedHealthcare provides health benefit plans and services. The company organizes access to health care services on behalf of more than 26 million consumers, contracting directly with more than 535,000 physicians and care professionals and 4,700 hospitals nationwide.
