— Craig High School is bracing for noise and dust as workers tear down the cafeteria and rooms above it, known as Tech Center East, next week.

The demolition at the rear of the building is slated to start Monday during the school day and continue for two weeks.

Principal Mike Kuehne said the noise probably will be the loudest until next summersí construction.

Workers plan to hang heavy construction blankets on the rooms adjoining the demolition area. The blankets are intended to provide safety from falling material and dampen the noise.

Kuehne warned staff and students that they might find their classrooms with bare concrete floors throughout this year, because tiles will be stripped off to begin remodeling. New flooring will be laid next summer.

Kuehne also gave early warning about two changes planned for next summer:

-- Summer registration day will be at Marshall Middle School.

-- No summer school, camps or workshops will be held at Craig.
