Whitewater to host NCAA men's soccer

— UW-Whitewater gets the early home-field advantage in the NCAA Division III men’s soccer tournament.

The Warhawks (15-2-2) will host a four-team regional at Fiskum Field and play Dominican University (16-3-1) of River Forest, Ill., in a semfinal game at 11 a.m. Saturday.


Washington University (13-4-2) of St. Louis faces Carthage College (13-6) of Kenosha at 1:30 p.m. The winner plays Whitewater or Dominican for the championship at 1 p.m. Sunday.


The regional champion advances to a four-team sectional Nov. 16-17 or 17-18 at an undetermined site. The final four teams play for the national championship Nov. 23-24 in Orlando, Fla.


Whitewater is making its sixth NCAA appearance in seven years. The Warhawks reached Sweet 16 in 2001 and 2002.


Whitewater defeated Dominican, 1-0, in a Oct. 24 home match and is 1-2 all-time against the Stars. The Warhawks have not played Carthage or Washington this season.
