— A Janesville man charged in an Internet sex sting was bound over for trial Thursday.

Christopher J. Hurst, 29, of 3119 Bond Place, faces a charge of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.

A preliminary hearing was held in Columbia County Court on Thursday.

Hurst was arrested March 12. He had gone to a park in Columbus to meet with what he thought was a 15-year-old girl, according to a criminal complaint.

He had been communicating with the “girl” in an Internet chat room and expected to meet her to have sexual relations, according to the complaint.

Hurst actually had been communicating with a retired Columbus police officer, Dennis Weiner, who posed as a girl.

Janesville School District officials suspended Hurst after confirming the arrest. Hurst then resigned from his position as a special-education aide at Craig High School, a position he had held since 2004. He had coached Craig girls and boys tennis teams in 2005-06.

No trial date has been set.
