Elkhorn girls win at Richland Center

Elkhorn High’s girls basketball team traveled to the Richland Center holiday tournament Friday and made the snowy adventure worth its while.


Ashlynn Anderson and Carly Larsen each made four free throws in the final quarter to lead Elkhorn to a 44-34 victory over La Crosse Central in a semifinal game.


Elkhorn (5-2) plays host Richland Center in the championship game at 4:15 p.m. today.


Kasey Reeves and Macaela McDonald each had 10 points to lead the Elks, who made 13 of 16 free throws in the final quarter.


Courtney Athnos had 10 for La Crosse Central.

Fort Atkinson Tournament


n Hamilton 46, Fort Atkinson 29—Sussex Hamilton (3-5) left Fort Atkinson (4-5) behind a 20-8 fourth quarter to win the Blackhawks’ holiday tournament.


Morgan Wendlandt paced Fort Atkinson with a 10-point game.

n Barneveld 47, Lakeside 46—Courtney Sullivan sank the winning basket for Barneveld with less than a minute remaining in the third-place game of the Fort Atkinson tournament.


Sullivan scored six of her nine points in the fourth quarter. Teammate Brooke Allen scored 17 points.


Jenna Luisier scored 11 points for Lakeside (2-5).

Parkview’s Katie Danielson scored a season-high 18 points, including four straight free-throws in the fourth quarter. Danielson’s twin sister, Maggie, scored 12 points.
