— The city council might meet Monday, Jan. 7, to determine whether to hold a primary election for city council, council President George Brunner announced Wednesday night.

Three council seats are up for grabs in April, and 14 people are circulating nomination papers. Holding a primary will depend on how many people meet the Wednesday, Jan. 2, filing deadline.

So far, four candidates—George Mark, Billy R. McCoy, Tom McDonald and Yuri D. Rashkin—have filed their papers with the city clerk, said Dave Godek, deputy clerk-treasurer.
