— Jim Pernau, CEO of Edgerton Hospital and Health Services, has described a vision of the hospital’s new facility as a “healthy village” that combines preventative, alternative and traditional medicine.

The company plans to build a 25-bed hospital, medical office space and a skilled nursing home, although the nursing home might integrate other senior services as well, Pernau said.

So far, the company has released only plans for the hospital and the exterior of the office building, which will be connected. The cost of the hospital and medical office building is expected to be about $26 million, not including the interior of the office building.

The hospital hopes to raise between $2 million and $2.5 million from the community. So far, it has collected $1.4 million from about 300 corporate and individual donors, according to the hospital’s fall newsletter.

The company is studying options for the nursing home and expects to have a cost estimate in February, Pernau said.

Pernau hopes to bring in other health care companies to provide more services on the 70-acre campus at Highway 59 and Sherman Road, near Interstate 90/39. No companies officially have signed on yet, but Pernau said he’s in confidential discussions with a few.
