Parker swimmers win big

— Janesville Parker went into the holiday break celebrating a 113-57 victory over visiting Madison La Follette/Sun Prairie in Big Eight Conference boys swimming Friday.

The Vikings won seven individual events and all three relays for their first Big Eight victory in four dual meets.


“It was a good meet for us,” Parker coach Eric Rhodes said. “We’ve had some illness, and injuries. We need some rest, mentally.’’


Parker’s Marcus Genrich won the 200 individual medley (2 minutes, 14.32 seconds) and 100 breastroke (1:08.57). Egemen Gozoglu, a foreign exchange student from Turkey, won the 500 freestyle (5:34.05) and the 100 backstroke (1:01.71).


The Parker and Craig swimmers will participate in the annual alumni meet on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Parker pool. Parker will swim at Middleton on Jan. 11.

Craig falls to Middleton


n Middleton 110, Craig 60—Janesville Craig High lost to Middleton, 110-60, in Big Eight boys swimming Friday at Middleton.


The Cougars are 1-3 in Big Eight meets, losing to conference powers Madison West, Madison Memorial and the Cardinals.


Craig’s Nick Hazekamp won the 100 backstroke (57.10) and teammate Josh Terry won the 100 breastroke (1:08.89).
