Milton girls thump Big Eight foe

— Milton High’s big third quarter paid off in a decisive nonconference girls basketball victory Friday night.

The host Red Hawks pulled away from a 24-22 halftime edge with a 22-14 advantage in the third period as they whipped Madison Memorial, 58-42.


Senior Tasha Randall paced Milton (3-3) with 22 points, while April Mielke added 14.


Mandie Wiedholz led the Spartans (3-4) with 10 points.

n Jefferson 50, Evansville 42—The Eagles broke out to a 17-5 first-quarter lead and rode it to a nonconference victory over the Blue Devils on Friday night.


Jefferson’s Marta Kinsman scored nine of her 20 points the first quarter.


Jessica Splittgerber scored eight of her scored 17 points in the second quarter as the Eagles (6-2) took a 31-22 halftime lead.


Evansville’s Alicia Kopp scored 16 points, while teammate Hailey McIntyre added 13.
