Fort Atkinson topples Whitewater

— Fort Atkinson High School sank four straight free throws in final 30 seconds to stop Whitewater, 61-55, in Southern Lakes boys basketball Friday.

The Whippets (0-4 Lakes) tied it at 55-55 on Tony Bilderbeck’s three-point goal with a minute left.


The Blackhawks (2-1) bounced back as John Kotz and Josh Meyerhofer made two free throws apiece down the stretch.


Reid Hitt scored 15 points to lead Fort. Whitewater’s Miles Hookstead scored 25 points to pace the Whippets.

n Madison Memorial 77, Madison West 52—After having a 40-game conference winning streak broken Tuesday night by Beloit, the Spartans retaliated with a rout of visiting Madison West.


Jeronne Maymon returned from a one-game academic suspension to lead Memorial’s charge.


The 6-6 junior scored 11 of his game-high 20 points in the first half, sparking Memorial to a 41-24 lead.
