Delavan-Darien beats up Wilmot

— Delavan-Darien High School’s basketball team turned up the heat in the second half Friday night and rallied for a 55-41 nonconference win over visiting Wilmot.

The Comets (5-3) overcame a 25-16 halftime deficit with a 20-9 advantage in the third quarter, then left the Panthers behind in a 19-7 final period.


Aaron Logterman, a 6-foot-7 junior, scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half to lead Delavan-Darien’s surge. He had six in the third quarter, and Jarret Fowlkes started the final period with a three-point goal that sent the Comets soaring out of sight.


Fowlkes had eight of his 11 points in the second half. Senior guard Joe Kieman added an 11-point game to the Comets’ total.


Shayne Dorn led Wilmot (0-5) with 13 points. Josh Geilfuss and Andy Jaeger followed with 11 and 10 points, respectively.


Delavan-Darien will be at home again at 7:30 tonight in a key nonconference game against Racine Park.

n East Troy 52, Arlington (Ind.) 49—A 16-7 scoring advantage in the third quarter carried the state’s ninth-ranked team in Division 3 to the win in the Milwaukee Lutheran Shootout.


Kyle Jones scored 12 points on four three-point baskets, and Alan Loth also scored 12, as East Troy (7-1) overcame a two-point halftime deficit.


Maurice Berryhill and Philip Fegiman scored 14 points each to pace Arlington.
