Columbus girls flex their muscles

— Columbus High School’s girls basketball displayed its typical power Friday night against Lakeside Lutheran.

The visiting Cardinals, No. 4 in the AP Division 2 state ratings, pushed their season record to 5-0 as they tipped off their Capitol North season with a 44-26 victory over the Warriors.


Alie Ballweg led Columbus with 13 points. Jeanne Price, the Player of the Year last season, added 12. Alyssa Allister paced Lakeside (2-3, 0-1) with six points.

n Abundant Life 56, Williams Bay 47 (OT)—Jessie Gerry scored eight of her game-high 24 points in overtime as the Challengers held off the Bulldogs in a Trailways South game.


Williams Bay, which got 15 points from Megan Hovestol and 13 from Courtney Hovestol, scored only two points in overtime.
