A Rock County jury deliberated less than an hour before returning a verdict that declared 37-year-old Byron Stewart guilty of first degree intentional homicide in the shooting death of 35-year-old Carlos Lak April 2nd.

During closing arguments, the prosecution said Stewart incriminated himself several times during his testimony. The defense pointed to inconsistencies in other witnesses' testimony.

Stewart showed no emotion as Judge Daniel Dillon read the guilty verdict.

Stewart will be sentenced April 11th.
