Beloit wrestlers hand Craig a loss

— Janesville Craig High School’s young wrestlers got a little bit older in a rough night against Beloit Memorial.

The visiting Cougars suffered their first Big Eight Conference dual loss to the Purple Knights in seven years, 51-22, Tuesday night.


Craig freshman Siven Furseth improved to 12-0 at 103 pounds, posting a pin in 44 seconds. Blair Kessler (189), Jamie Kumlien (112) and Ian Kopp (145) also were Craig winners, but the Cougars dropped to 1-2 in the conference.


The Cougars have won or shared the Big Eight title six of the last eight years. They finished second last season, and Beloit was fifth.
