Rock County jury could begin deliberations Thursday
The defense attorneys for 37-year-old Byron Stewart began calling witnesses Wednesday afternoon.
Stewart is accused of killing 35-year-old Carlos Lak last April. The defense called the other person involved in Lak's death, Thomas Conner. Conner was one of the first witnesses for the prosecution and on Wednesday prosecutors objected to his return to the witness stand. The judge allowed Conner to testify, with the stipulation that the defense ask questions that haven't been covered. After almost every question the defense asked Conner the prosecution objected.
The jury is expected to start deliberations.
