ABC Supply launches supply center expansion
The 139,000-square-foot building overlooking the Rock River will grow by 34,000 square feet in the project, which is expected to wrap up next summer.
Ken and Diane Hendricks bought the building in 1995.
Expansion plans ABC Supply, Hendricks Development Group and Corporate Contractors have been in the works for more than three years, beginning with the $1.5 million expansion of ABC Supply Catalog, a division of ABC Supply.
“We had been anticipating ABC’s need for space and began negotiations with Fairbanks Morse back in 2004,” said Mike Slavish, director of real estate at HDG. “We had envisioned acquiring part of their campus, which is right in ABC’s backyard, to house areas of ABC that needed the space to accommodate the tremendous growth we have been experiencing.”
The first phase is the renovation of the north area vacated by ABC Catalog. The second phase will consist of reconfiguring occupied office areas as well as building a larger break room and kitchen facility which will serve as a catering prep area on the west side of the first floor. There will be new conference rooms and offices throughout, as well as new windows on the east and west sides and a new green roof outside of a new state-of-the-art video-conference room. The employee entrance will be relocated on the north addition, and the employee entrance used currently will be a visitor’s entrance.
ABC Supply Co. is the largest wholesale distributor of roofing in the United States and one of the nation’s largest distributors of siding, windows and other select exterior building products. ABC has 395 distribution centers in 46 states and the District of Columbia with sales of approximately $3 billion.
Hendricks Development Group is the real estate development arm for ABC Supply and Ken and Diane Hendricks. HDG manages 590 properties, totaling 23 million square feet of property, and a property portfolio of approximately $525 million.
