Jury selection got underway around 8:30 Monday morning in the first degree intentional homicide case against 37-year-old Byron Stewart. He is accused of shooting 35-year-old Carlos Lak after what Beloit police say was a drug deal gone bad last April.

The jury will listen to testimony from witnesses on the murder charge and also on charges of fleeing an officer, criminal trespass to a dwelling, criminal damage to property and hit and run causing an injury.

Judge Dan Dillon expects the trial to last the rest of the week.
