Furseth takes home title

WEST ALLIS — Siven Furseth, a Janesville Craig High School freshman, won the 103-pound championship at the E.H. Stech Invitational wrestling tournament at West Allis Central High School on Saturday.

Furseth (11-0) decisioned defending champion Joe Immekus of West Allis Central, 4-0, for the title. Furseth pinned Mukwonago’s Garrett Gutenberg in 4 minutes, and 1 second in the semifinal match.

“We got us a horse at 103,” Craig coach Jeff Kaster said. “The score dosen’t show how bad he beat the kid.

“The kid was a foot-and-a-half taller,” Kaster said. “Siven just doesn’t make mistakes. He is the real deal.’’

Craig’s Trevor Gregoire (160) and Blair Kessler (189) each finished fourth. The Cougars earned 88 points to finish ninth in the 18-team tournament.
