Tasha Randall made sure Elkhorn High’s girls basketball team didn’t treat its home fans to a come-from-behind win Thursday night.


The Milton senior made two free throws in the closing seconds to lift the Red Hawks to a 55-51 victory in a Southern Lakes thriller at Elkhorn.


A 20-8 third-quarter advantage had given the Red Hawks a 40-26 lead going into the final period.


Elkhorn got to within 53-51 with nine seconds to go, but Randall was fouled. She made both free throws to close out a 16-point night.


Nicole Negus added 12 points for the Red Hawks, and April Mielke 11 as Milton evened its conference record at 1-1 and dropped Elkhorn from first place to 2-1. Mielke had six points and Negus five in Milton’s big third quarter.


Ashlynn Anderson led Elkhorn with 17. Micaela McDonald added 12, and Brianna Entwistle had 10 for the Elks (3-2).

n Delavan-Darien 64, East Troy 34—The Comets pushed their season record to 6-0 as they breezed past East Troy in their Southern Lakes opener.


Kelly Supernaw scored 18 points, including nine in the first quarter when Delavan-Darien took a 20-7 lead. Courtney Flood and Mallory Epping each added 10 for the host Comets.


Kara Haines led East Troy with 13 points.

n Jefferson 50, Fort Atkinson 31—Defending champion Jefferson made 22 of 25 free throws to pull away for a Southern Lakes victory over visiting Fort Atkinson.


Lindsay Frank led the way with 16 points, including 10 of 12 from the line, as the Eagles evened their conference record at 1-1 and dropped the Blackhawks to 1-2. She made all eight of her first-half free throws.


Jessica Splittgerber added 14 points, and Katie Chmielewski had 12 for the Eagles.


Morgan Wendlandt led the Blackhawks with nine points.
