UW-Rock teams fall at La Crosse

— UW-Rock County played a strong second half but it wasn’t enough to overcome a slow start en route to a 74-64 nonconference loss to Western Tech in college women’s basketball Monday night.

The Rattlers (3-3) trailed 34-25 at the half. Theys fought back to take a two-point lead with three minutes remaining but couldn’t hold the momentum.


UW-Rock’s Sarah Lancour scored 18 of her 21 points in the second half. Morgan Rucks added 11 of her 19 points during that stretch, while teammate Kaylyn Sherrod scored 10 of her 15 points in the first half.


The Rattlers travel to UW-Marathon for a 1 p.m. game Saturday.

UW-Rock men fall


UW-Rock County waged and lost an all-out battle with Western Tech, 141-98, in nonconference men’s college basketball Monday.


The Rattlers made 18 of 66 three-point shots and 34 out of 103 shots overall. Western Tech made 56 of 86 shots overall, including six three-point goals.


Western Tech had 44 defensive rebounds to 24 offensive rebounds for UW-Rock.


UW-Rock’s David Rasmussen scored 22 points. Derek Kash added 15 points on five three-pointers, while Jared Amudson added 12 points for the Rattlers.


UW-Rock (0-5) travel to UW-Marathon for a 3 p.m. game Saturday.
