Jefferson, East Troy boys win

Jefferson High School notched its first nonconference boys basketball victory in two years by downing Brodhead, 67-62, Monday night.


The host Eagles had a 13-point lead with a minute remaining, but Mica Wallace and Andy Swain each sank three-point goals down stretch to pull Brodhead within the final margin.


Jefferson’s Trevor Probst scored 14 points, while teammates Mike Splittgerber and Dante Vogel had 13 apiece as the Eagles improved to 1-3 after going 1-20 last season.


Brodhead’s Andy Swain scored a game-high 20 points, and Wallace had 11 for the Cardinals (2-2), who suffered their second straight loss after a 2-0 start.

East Troy 56, Pewaukee 49—Alex Bondar made five straight free throws in the fourth quarter to help push the visiting Trojans to a nonconference victory.


The Pirates pulled within two points with three minutes left before Bondar began his string of free throws. East Troy made 11 of 14 from the line in the fourth quarter.


The Trojans (3-1) led 39-33 after three quarters.


Bondar, the only Trojan in double figures, scored a game-high 21 points.
