UW-Whitewater men upset Stevens Point

— UW-Whitewater pulled the rug out from under second-ranked UW-Stevens Point, posting an 83-77 upset Saturday in a WIAC men’s basketball opener at Williams Center.

The Warhawks, who led 68-59 with 7:27 to play, made eight free throws down the stretch to clinch the victory.


Rob Perry scored 23 points for the Warhawks. Myles McKay added 19 points, including four free throws down the stretch, and Matt Goodwin scored 17 points.


Whitewater (4-0, 1-0) will play at UW-Oshkosh this Wednesday.
