Wetlands bill worries some
Although there are few isolated wetlands located in Rock County, county officials are worried a bill awaiting Gov. Scott Walker’s signature could have negative effects on water quality and flooding potential statewide, including Rock County. The bill would exempt isolated and artificial wetlands from certain Department of Natural Resources permitting requirements. Easing regulations could open wetlands up for development.

Stricker wins Champions event
Steve Stricker finally hit the 18th fairway on Omni Tucson National’s Catalina Course and he has his first PGA Tour Champions victory to show for it. Stricker, an Edgerton native, came through Sunday in the Cologuard Classic. The 12-time PGA Tour winner birdied the par-5 15th and closed with three pars for a 4-under 69, hitting another 3-wood on the par-4 18th. He finished two strokes ahead of Madison native Jerry Kelly.

Trump holds the line on tariffs
President Donald Trump’s administration appears unbowed by broad domestic and international criticism of his planned import tariffs on steel and aluminum, saying Sunday that the president is not planning on exempting any countries from the stiff duties. Addressing criticism of the proposed action, Trump tweeted Sunday that American “Steel and Aluminum industries are dead. Sorry, it’s time for a change!”
