Anniversary

60 years

JANESVILLE—Helen and Melvin Douglas, 1306 S. Dunbar St., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at Bass Creek Golf Course.
Douglas and Helen McKeown were married Nov. 22, 1947, at St. Patrick’s Church. He is a retired farmer.
Their family includes: Ken and Joan Douglas and Bill and Kathleen Schweder, all of Janesville; Jim and Kris Douglas, Fort Wayne, Ind.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren

Simmons

Anniversary

25 years

JANESVILLE—Sue and Dennis Simmons, 3755 Wildflower Lane, will celebrate their 25th anniversary with a trip at a later date.
Simmons and Sue Graham were married Oct. 23, 1982 at Peace Lutheran Church, Janesville. They are the owners of Simmons Fence.
Their family includes: Kelly Simmons and Denny Simmons, both of Janesville.

Anniversary

55 years

JANESVILLE—Barbara and Donald H. Jones, 12 S. Fremont St., will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary with a family dinner in Whitewater.
Jones and Barbara E. Powell were married Dec. 15, 1952. He retired from General Motors August 1, 1988 after 35 years. She retired from The Janesville gazette June 1, 2005 after 42 years.
Their family includes: Harry D. Jones, Janesville; Debbie and Alyn R. Jones, Whitewater; Craig and Debra E. Edmondson, Stevens Point; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Engagement

Shelby Christine Deering—William “BJ” Kiefer Dernbach Jr. are engaged and planning a fall 2008 wedding at Walt Disney World.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Robert and Christine Deering, Elkhorn. She received a bachelor’s degree in English from Ripon College in 2005 and a master’s degree in journalism and mass communication from UW-Madison in 2006. She is the associate editor of American Girl magazine, Middleton.
Her finance is the son of William and Patricia Dernbach, Wausau. He received a bachelor’s degree in politics and government from Ripon College in 2005. He is attending UW-Madison for a master’s degree in public policy and is a legislative aid to Representative J.A. “Doc” Hines at Wisconsin State Capitol.
