Two candidates—an incumbent and a challenger—are competing for an open seat on the Lake Geneva Joint 1 School Board.

Age: 72

Address: 500 S. Edwards Blvd., No. 59, Lake Geneva.

Job: Retired elementary school teacher

Education: Bachelor's degree in education, Michigan State University, 1963; attended Michigan State University at UW-Whitewater for post-graduate studies.

Community service: Library board member, 2012-present.

Elected posts: Lake Geneva Jt. No. 1 School Board member, 2007-present.

Major campaign issues: “I think that finding the dollars to fund ongoing programs and then find ways to implement new recommended cutting edge ones is certainly a major issue. As most citizens know, state financial aid has been reduced over the last few years. In our district, we have worked with staff to achieve concessions, and we have carefully reviewed just what it is that we feel we should do for all of our students. We try and I think we largely succeed to stretch the dollars allocated.”

Address: 400 Garrison Drive, Lake Geneva.

Ziegler did not return a candidate questionnaire.
