TOWN OF DARIEN—Three people are running for two seats on the Darien Town Board.

They include Matthew L. Smith, W8264 Highway 11, Delavan; James Terpstra, N3362 Elm Ridge Drive, Delavan; and Bill Shimer, N3678 Oak Hill St., Delavan.

MATTHEW L. SMITH (I)

Address: W8264 Highway 11, Delavan.

Age: 47

Job: Engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation

Education: UW-Platteville; Naval Nuclear Power School, 1989; North Dakota State University.

Community service: President of the Darien Cemetery Association, 2002-present.

Elected posts: Darien Town Board, 2000-present; chairman of the Darien Fire Station Committee; co-chairman of the Darien Planning Commission, 2001-03.

Major campaign issues: Smith wants to finish the design and construction of the Darien Fire Station and continue to foster intergovernmental cooperation to help save taxpayer money.
