After committing eight errors in two games Saturday at the Tri-State Classic, Janesville American Legion Post 205 played a clean game in the field and pounded out 18 hits—15 of them singles—to beat Oconomowoc 12-3 on Sunday for third place.

“All 14 of our guys played, everyone got two at-bats and 12 of the kids had a hit,” Janesville coach Bob Schenck said.

With a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth, Post 205 (18-10) scored five runs on five hits to blow the game open.

While the offense showed its explosive side Sunday, Schenck was pleased his team came to play on defense.

“We know we can hit, and I think we showed ourselves how well we can play when we catch the ball, too,” Schenck said.

Janesville plays at 6 p.m. tonight at Riverside Park against Lake Geneva.
