LYONS—A Burlington woman died in a single-vehicle crash on Cranberry Road in the town of Lyons Friday morning, according to a release from the Walworth County Sherif's Office.

Deputies received a call at 5:30 a.m. Friday of a crash with severe injuries, and arrived at the scene on Cranberry Road near Berndt Road in Lyons. A preliminary investigation determined that Danielle Lee Heath, 24, of Burlington, was driving eastbound on Cranberry Road at a high rate of speed in a 2006 Volkswagon Passat. She lost control of her vehicle after cresting a hill, and the car crossed the center line and struck a tree in the westbound ditch. The vehicle came to rest in the road, where it was discovered by a passerby.

Heath was extricated from the vehicle and the Walworth County Coroner's Office pronounced her dead at the scene.

She was the sole occupant of the car.

Walworth County Sheriff was assisted by members of Lyons Fire and Rescue and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
