LaVerne E. Doll, age 92, of Beloit, WI, died on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in Cedar Crest, Janesville, WI. He was born May 16, 1922, the son of Fred and Mary Francis (Churchill) Doll in Beloit, WI. He served in the United States Army. LaVerne married Ruth L. Johnson on May 27, 1944, in Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Beloit, WI. She predeceased him on Nov. 15, 2013. LaVerne was the owner and operator of Laverne Doll Roofing and Siding. LaVerne was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served as a councilman and played on the dart ball team. He was also an usher. He was a woodworking leader with the Newark Beloit 4-H Club and an Advisory Council Member. After retiring, he and his wife, Ruth, were custodians for St. Paul Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI.
Survivors include his four children: LaVonne (Russell) Sweger, Steven Doll, Susan (Alan) Katterhenry, and Kerry (Laura) Doll, all of Beloit, WI; five grandchildren: Marc (Suzi) Sweger, Stephanie (Brian) Edwards, Steve (Jenna Fry) Doll, Gregg Sweger, and Colin Doll; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Eunice (Ronald) Scobie of Janesville, and Audrey Johnson of Beloit, WI; as well as many nieces and nephews. LaVerne was predeceased by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Kay Doll; sister Lona Coryell; brothers-in-law; Orion (Bernice) Eidahl and Donald Johnson; sisters-in- law; Viola (Thirl) Chamberlin, Clarice (Harold) Walmer, and Phyllis (Kenneth) Grabow.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 2, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 617 St. Lawrence Ave., Beloit, WI, with Pastor Roger Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 1, 2014, from 3 until 5 p.m. at the DALEY MURPHY WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Rd. Beloit, WI.
