JANESVILLE—A Janesville man is accused of having sex with a 12-year-old runaway that he met through a dating website.

Richard D. Rucks, 19, of 140 Ridge Creek Drive, was charged in Rock County Court on Thursday with three counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child.

Janesville police went to Rucks' residence at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday at the request of Milwaukee police, who asked officers to locate a 12-year-old Milwaukee runaway, according to a news release.

Officers found the girl at the residence. She told officers she met Rucks on the Plenty of Fish dating site.

The girl said Rucks picked her up in Milwaukee on Friday night, a couple days after meeting online, and drove her to his home.

The girl said they had sex five or six times between Friday and Wednesday, the complaint states.

Rucks believed the girl was 19 and only after they had sex did she say she was a minor, the complaint states.

The 12-year-old was turned over to her family, police said.

Rucks was in the Rock County Jail on Thursday on $4,500 cash bond. He is scheduled to be back in court Tuesday.
