JANESVILLE--The Big Eight Conference’s top baseball teams will wait to decide a champion until Friday night.

Janesville Parker was scheduled to host Sun Prairie on Tuesday in a battle of the two teams topping the standings entering the final week of the season. But an afternoon thunderstorm forced the game to be postponed until 5 p.m. Friday.

Janesville Craig was scheduled to host Middleton in a game prior to Parker’s tilt, but the Big Eight game against Middleton was pushed back to 4 p.m. today.

Parker and Craig are scheduled to play each other Thursday night, meaning Friday’s game between Sun Prairie and Parker will be a true championship game. It will decide whether the teams share the title or one wins outright, depending on Thursday’s outcomes.

In softball, both Craig and Parker also saw their WIAA regional openers washed out.

The eighth-seeded Cougars were slated to host ninth-seed Beloit Memorial, and the two teams will now play at 3 p.m. today at the Janesville Youth Sports Complex. The 14th-seeded Vikings’ game at Muskego was postponed until 4:30 p.m. today.
