CLINTON—The Clinton Fire Department continues to investigate the cause of Sunday's barn fire, said Larry London, deputy fire chief.

“We're still looking into it and believe it was accidental,” he said.

“We know there was a campfire nearby, but we still are investigating whether there was some sort of accidental spark,” London said.

Firefighters from five other fire departments provided aid at the fire, which was reported just after 8 p.m. Sunday at 10941 S. Larson Road in the town of Clinton.

The value of the century-old barn is not known, London said.

The barn and its contents—household items that belong to a family member who was moving and being stored there—were a “total loss,” he said.

Firefighters from Sharon, Janesville, Turtle and the town of Beloit in Wisconsin and Boone from Illinois were on scene with Clinton firefighters for 2.5 hours. No injuries occurred, London said.
