Environmental center sets workshops
Welty Environmental Center will host workshops for adults and teens in June, July and August.
The first workshop, "Our Geologic Past," will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Magnolia Bluff County Park, 4002 N. Croak Road, Evansville. Participants will hike the bluffs and learn about the region's geologic deposits. Bring a picnic supper. Cost is $15. Register by June 3 by calling 608-361-1377.
The next workshop, "Flora and Fauna of the Prairie," will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Welty Environmental Center, 8606 S. County H, Beloit. The program will explore native plants, insects and other prairie animals. Bring a picnic supper. Cost is $15. Register by July 23 by calling 608-361-1377.
The final workshop, "Summer Harvest Cast Iron Cooking Class," will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Welty Environmental Center. Participants will use cast iron Dutch ovens to create soup, bread, a main course and dessert. All food and supplies will be provided. Cost is $30. Register by Aug. 12 by calling 608-361-1377.
