Milton scouts to host Memorial Day ceremonies
MILTON—Milton Boy Scouts is hosting three public Memorial Day ceremonies at local cemeteries.
The events begin with a solemn march starting at 9 a.m. Monday at Veterans Park, which is located at Hilltop Drive and High Street. The march will proceed to Milton Junction Cemetery on John Paul Road, where the cemetery association at 9:30 a.m. will hold a roll call of veterans and a reading of the Gettysburg Address.
An honor guard will then travel to St. Mary Cemetery on West High Street and to Milton Cemetery on Janesville Street (the former Highway 26), where it will host similar ceremonies.
At the ceremonies, children attending will receive carnations to decorate veterans' graves.
The public, local scout troops and youth groups and military veterans and active or retired members of the military are invited to attend the ceremonies.
