Pope recommended for principal job
JANESVILLE—Janesville School District Superintendent Karen Schulte has recommended the school board name Sally Pope principal at Monroe Elementary School.
The board will discuss the recommendation June 3. If approved, Pope's start date would be Aug. 11.
Pope, who has been with the district since 1988, served as interim principal at Monroe this year.
Pope's experience includes being an elementary and middle school counselor and Dean of Students at Monroe. She also was a teacher in the Littleton, Colo., and Fort Atkinson school districts.
Pope holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in counseling from UW-Whitewater. She has a master's degree in administration and supervision from National Louis University.
Pope's recommendation was based on her elementary teaching, evidence-based leadership and counseling experience, according to a district news release. She also has compassion for students and staff, excellent organizational skills, is a strong collaborator and has a superb rapport with students, parents and staff, the release said.
Schulte recommends Pope be given a one-year contract and paid $89,974.
