Robert Fay Nelson, 85, of Janesville, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville. He was born in Chicago, IL, on Oct. 21, 1928, the son of Arnold and Myrtle (Kettleson) Nelson. Robert was united in marriage to Rheta Roth on Jan. 5, 1957, in Dubuque, IA. He served in the U. S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Robert worked at General Motors for 31 years, retiring in 1982. He was the first treasurer and a charter member of Blackhawk Credit Union. He belonged to U.A.W. Local # 95 and loved to sing and dance.
Robert is survived by his wife, Rheta; his son, Eric (Teresa) Nelson of Texas; grandchildren, Brandon and Brice; his brother, Eugene (Shirley) Nelson; and sisters-in-law, Eileen Nelson and Lynn Nelson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Ronald Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville. Rev. Jerry Amstutz will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post #1621. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME.
