Whitewater police looking for fountain vandals

WHITEWATER—Police in the city of Whitewater are looking for two individuals in their early 20s--male and female—who vandalized Birge Fountain, 402 W. Main St., Whitewater Friday, May 16 about 2 a.m., according to a news release from the Whitewater Police Department.
 
Security video clips show a female wearing a light blue or green colored top and dark shorts with her hair pulled back climbing onto the fountain, attempting to pull on one of the spears held by a figure in the fountain. A male with short hair, dark t-shirt, and grey shorts then climbs onto the fountain and eventually is able to pull one of the spears out and can be seen running away.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on these two suspects to contact the Whitewater Police Department at 262-473-0555.

Additionally, tips can be texted to 274637(CRIMES). This tip line is being offered in conjunction with the Walworth County Crime Stoppers and the Whitewater Police Department.
